Method get is not defined in RFC 2068 and is not supported by the Servlet API.

We are working in a web based software product, and we make lot of AJAX calls in the application. Today, while making an AJAX call to an servlet, the application started throwing the following strange exception:

Method get is not defined in RFC 2068 and is not supported by the Servlet API.

More interestingly this error occurred only in one particular computer and the program worked fine in all other computers!!!

After nearly one day of analysis and debugging, finally we found the error :

In our code we had marked the request as "get", when we changed it to "GET" it worked like a charm!!!

Likewise, if you get the similar error message for "post" then changing it as "POST" should solve the problem.

Method get is not defined in RFC 2068 and is not supported by the Servlet API, Servlet, Java, Troubleshooting, Web Application Problems, Apache Tomcat problem, Ajax Call, Ajax Problems

Small steps to fight Obsesity

Four years back I was only 65+ kgs of weight, but today thanks to my life-style and laziness, I weigh nearly 85+ kgs.

Few innocent people call me Uncle

New neighbors identify me as the fat guy at home

Long met relatives mistake me to be the eldest in the family

Dear and Near ones always talking about this physical progress!!!!

Hmm... Life isn't easy when one have such rapid growth. At times such frequent comments really hurt in some corner of the heart, as it had happened today.

As usual with the same determination which will last only for one day, I started browsing the internet

Just happened to step in to one good website for people like me - www.smallstep.gov

The have listed nearly 100+ small steps to reduce body weight. Here's just a few of them :
  • Take the stairs instead of the escalator.
  • Get of the bus a stop early and walk.
  • Portion out your snack on a plate, not from the bag.
  • Park farther from your destination and walk.
  • Don't eat late at night.
  • Don't take seconds.
  • Try smaller sized items when snacking or eating out.
  • Bicycle to the store instead of driving.
In words, these tips seems to be very simple.
I need to check if they will work out for me, at least this time [:-)]

BabaJob.com - Job site for maids, drivers, cooks, care-takers....

Are you searching for a cook or a maid or a driver in Bangalore....?

Then here is simple online solution for your need: www.babajob.com

Three engineers in Bangalore have created this site for the normal jobs like office helpers, cooks, drivers, maids, care-takers, and many more. This is a real great idea in taking the technology to the people in the lower economical segment.

The Educated middle class people (Employers) will not have much problem in accessing the information, but how will the barely illiterate people searching for jobs, access this site?? They have solved this problem by Social Networking.

If you know someone searching for a job and you help him/her to upload the profile, and also vouch that person, you will be paid Rs.100.00. This idea will help teh BabaJob team to populate their database with more job seekers and at the same time this model can also the help part-time workers/students/charities to make some extra money.

Currently they have limited this only to Bangalore, and very soon they will expand to other cities as well.

On the whole, a great solution for a very common problem. Best wishes to the BabaJob Team!!!!

Tirupathi - a visit and some thoughts...

Last weekend, me and some of my friends had been to Tirupathi. We had some wonderful time during the visit and here are some random thoughts, tips, experience....

1. Plan the visit properly. If you are taking old people to the temple, plan the trip during some weekday and if possible avoid the second weekend of the month.

An old lady standing in front of me in the Queue said it will be heavily crowded during the second weekend .

2. If you are from Chennai, check if the dharshan token can be obtained in Chennai. Token counters in Tirupathi are crowded even during the midnight.

3. Book your rooms at the Tirupathi Town. The rooms at the Tirumala are expensive and is always booked. We had to search nearly 1+ hr for a room. Finally we managed to get only a bathroom to get refreshed for Rs. 50.00 each.

4. Leave your Foot-wear, Mobile Phones, bags, etc. in the room. Standing in Queue to worship God can be taken as blessing, for the token is also fine, but waiting in a queue for leaving the foot-wear is horrible.

5. On my personal view, most of the North Indians coming Tirupathi are less adjustable/ controllable/ ... They always wait for any small opportunity to break the queues, push others, shout at the bottom of their voice and lot more...

6. Too much of crowd to be controlled. Still the Temple Administration team can organize the crowd in much better way. In halfway, there was a confusion between the free dharshan queue and the Rs 50.00 queue.

7. When moving in queues in a cell-like room, there is No Emergency Exit or any option for first aid.

8. In recent times, Laddoos in Tirupathi looks like Idlies, in shape and size.

9. After waiting for so many hours, when you get the Swami dharshan for few seconds, the man on your left will be stepping your feet, the man from back will be pushing you, the man in your right will be shouting Govinda Govinda, at the bottom of his voice, meanwhile the Devasthana people will be pushing outside.

10. Just when moving out of the temple, the Lord Ganesh near the Tambaram Railway station flashed in mind saying :

"My dear Little Boy..... When you were searching for a work, you would come to my temple atleast once in a week, Now you are placed, and acting to be busy always, don't come even once in a year!!! My uncle Vishnu should have taught you a lesson Now.. [:-)] "

Mobile Device Management - the Next Hot Enterprise Market

We are living in the Modern Gadget Era. Today Mobile Workforce, is considered to be the simple, yet the most powerful strategy for business success. Its PDA, BlackBerry, etc.., etc.. everywhere.

Most organizations provide mobile devices to their employees. As this trend would expand in future, managing such mobile devices will be a bigger challenge for the IT Professionals.

This is where they would need a Mobile Device Management Software that can minimize their manual efforts and provide more productivity.

Image from : http://gizmodo.com

Today there aren't many vendors in this segment however in near future this will be the primary target for many Enterprise Software vendors.

Very recently, two major vendors Microsoft and CA have launched their Mobile Device Software Solution. Other major systems management vendors like Novell, BMC, LANDesk and Symantec are expected to enter into this market, soon.

CA, which says they support many features for mobile device management, will charge US$ 65 for each mobile device do be managed. The SMBs which cannot afford such high price for each device will surely go for low cost software with the best set of features. Hence there is a huge market for high and low cost software in this segment.

As per a research report, the Mobile Device Management software market is expected to grow up to US$ 345 Millions by 2011.

Personally, I would like to see some Indian Software company sharing the largest pie of this [:-)]

Yamaha Introduces sports bikes in India...

Yamaha, though popular in the international market, had been struggling a lot recently to attract the Indian customers.

Now they want to re-establish their position by introducing two sports motorcycles (MT-01 and YZS-R1), in the indian market.

In look and performance (1000cc & 1600cc) the bikes look awesome, but cost??

These bikes would cost about Rs. 10.5L!!!!

Thats too much!!! On one side, few are trying to make low cost cars and on the other side few are selling such costly bikes.

Hmmm.. Strange world!!!!

Few months back, when I had nothing to do, posted a blog on Debugging. Few of my friends said it was interesting - not to mention they all have a good sense of humor.

Today, Brian Whaley, a blogger from US, says the afore mentioned post in one of the great articles on the Methodology of Debugging!!!! (Link to his post HERE)
